Comments & Annotations
Add notes, observations, and image attachments to specific locations on the map
The Comments tool lets you add annotations to specific locations in your project. Comments are geolocated, meaning they're attached to a specific point in 3D space and appear as markers on the map.
Adding a Comment
Open the Tool
Select Comments → Add Comment from the top navigation, or click the comments icon in the toolbar.
Click a Location
Click on the map where you want to place the comment. A marker appears at that location.
Enter Your Comment
In the comment sheet that opens:
- Title - A short summary of the comment
- Description - Detailed notes or observations
- Images (optional) - Attach photos for reference
Save the Comment
Click Save to add the comment to your project. The marker remains on the map.
Viewing Comments
On the Map
Comments appear as markers on the map:
- Click a marker to view the comment details
- Markers are visible when zoomed appropriately
- Multiple comments in an area may cluster
In the Right Sidebar
When the Comments tool is active, the right sidebar shows:
- List of all comments in the project
- Filter options to search or sort
- Quick view of comment titles and locations
Comment Details
Click on a comment (map marker or list item) to see:
- Title and description
- Location coordinates
- Attached images
- Creation date and author
- Chat/replies (if any)
Editing Comments
To modify an existing comment:
- Click on the comment marker or select from the list
- Click Edit in the comment details
- Update the title, description, or images
- Save your changes
Deleting Comments
To remove a comment:
- Open the comment details
- Click Delete
- Confirm the deletion
Deleted comments cannot be recovered. Make sure you want to permanently remove the comment before confirming.
Attaching Images
Comments can include image attachments:
Click Add Image
In the comment editor, click the image attachment button.
Select Images
Choose one or more images from your computer.
Review and Save
Images appear as thumbnails in the comment. Save to finalize.
Images are useful for:
- Ground truth photos
- Before/after comparisons
- Reference documentation
- Field observations
Comment Discussions
Comments support threaded discussions:
Adding a Reply
- Open a comment
- Type your message in the chat input
- Click Send
Viewing Discussion
All replies appear in chronological order within the comment, allowing team members to discuss specific locations.
Filtering Comments
When you have many comments, use filters to find what you need:
- Search by title or content
- Filter by author
- Sort by date or location

Comments in Shared Projects
When projects are shared:
- All team members can view comments
- Authors can edit their own comments
- Comments remain associated with the project
In shared or public projects, comments may be read-only depending on your permission level.
Tips for Effective Comments
Clear Titles
Use descriptive titles that:
- Summarize the issue or observation
- Are easy to scan in a list
- Include relevant identifiers (pole IDs, span numbers)
Precise Locations
When placing comments:
- Zoom in for accurate placement
- Click directly on the feature of interest
- Consider placing markers where they won't obscure important data
Consistent Format
For team projects, establish conventions for:
- Comment categories or prefixes
- Required information to include
- Image naming and quality
