Image Viewer
Browse and analyze geotagged photos with EXIF metadata
The Image Viewer tool lets you browse geotagged photos that have been added to your project. Images appear as markers on the map, and you can view them along with their EXIF metadata.
Opening the Image Viewer
Access the Tool
Select Tools → Image Viewer from the top navigation, or click on an image marker on the map.
Browse Images
The Image Viewer panel shows:
- Thumbnails of all images in the project
- Map markers showing image locations
- Selected image details
Select an Image
Click a thumbnail or map marker to view the full image and its metadata.
Viewing Image Details
When you select an image, the viewer displays:
The Image
- Full view - See the complete photo
- Maximize - Click to open a larger view
- Zoom - Examine details up close
EXIF Metadata
Location and camera information extracted from the image file:

| GPS Coordinates | Latitude and longitude |

| Compass Bearing | Direction the camera was pointing |
| Field of View | Camera lens angle |
Not all images contain complete EXIF data. The viewer shows whatever metadata is available in the file.
Image Markers on the Map
Viewing Markers
Images with GPS data appear as markers on the map:
- Markers show the camera location when the photo was taken
- Click a marker to view that image
- Markers may cluster when zoomed out
Camera Direction
Some markers may show the direction the camera was pointing (bearing), displayed as:
- An arrow or cone indicating the view direction
- Field of view indicator showing what the image captures
Working with Multiple Images
Browsing
When multiple images are loaded:
- Thumbnails appear in a scrollable list
- Use arrow keys or click to navigate between images
- The map highlights the current image's location
Filtering
If you have many images:
- Zoom to a specific area to see only nearby images
- Use the project layers panel to toggle image visibility

Adding Images to Your Project
To add geotagged images:
- Select Add Data → Images from the top navigation
- Choose image files (JPG, PNG with EXIF GPS data)
- Images are uploaded and markers appear on the map
Images without GPS EXIF data cannot be displayed on the map. Ensure your camera or device saves location information in the image files.
Supported Formats

Tips for Best Results
Capturing Geotagged Photos
- Enable GPS on your camera or phone
- Wait for GPS lock before taking photos
- Use a dedicated GPS camera for accuracy
Organizing Images
- Use consistent naming conventions
- Group images by date or location
- Remove duplicates before uploading
Performance
- Large numbers of images may slow the viewer
- Very high resolution images take longer to load
- Consider resizing images if you have many
